How to keep your Kumara Shines pieces looking their best.

Your gemstone jewellery has been formed over thousands of years and crafted with care — with a little attention, it will stay beautiful for years to come. Here's everything you need to know.

GENERAL CARE

Store each piece separately in its Kumara Shines box or a soft pouch to prevent scratching. Keep jewellery away from perfumes, lotions, hairspray and cleaning products — chemicals are the biggest enemy of natural gemstones and sterling silver. Remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing, exercising or sleeping.

STERLING SILVER

925 sterling silver can develop a natural patina over time. To restore its shine, gently polish with a soft dry cloth after wearing. Avoid silver dips or harsh chemical cleaners — these can damage both the metal and the stone setting.

STONE-SPECIFIC CARE

Sapphire & Ruby — among the hardest gemstones and very durable. Clean gently with a soft damp cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners.

Emerald — emeralds are beautiful but require gentle care. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, steamers and harsh chemicals. Wipe with a soft dry cloth only.

Amethyst — keep away from prolonged direct sunlight which can fade the colour over time. Clean with a soft damp cloth.

Coral — coral is an organic gem and the most delicate in our collection. Keep away from acids, perfumes, sunlight and water. Wipe gently with a dry cloth only. Never soak.

STORAGE TIPS

The best thing you can do for your jewellery is store it properly. Keep pieces in their individual boxes, away from direct sunlight, humidity and heat. A jewellery box with separate compartments is ideal if you wear multiple pieces regularly.
